Actions to fight the good fight
Welcome to the second half of 2020. This is it. Does it feel any different to you than the last four months? 🤷🏾♀️ Maybe you're in a place that boomerang-ed from closed to open to closed status in a matter of several weeks. Maybe your situation hasn't changed much since mid-March. I'll tell you what, maybe at this time no change is a good thing. I'm in the midst of a ton of change and it's proving to be quite the challenge to my state of grounding, stability, and ease.
So I'm leaning hard on my support system: yoga mentors, therapist, friends, and family to help me feel more spacious and less locked-down and restricted in the tumult. And through all the change, the work continues. Let this be a revitalizing call to action for you to fight the good fight.
Now is the time to act, even when we are faced with massive change. As much as we are learning, listening, and showing up to be better community, allies, or accomplices, we have a responsibility to take action. Here are ways to be prepared if social media isn't a great teacher and tool at the moment:
Switch to email (I'm glad you're here AND have you signed up for The Anti-Racism Daily email from Nicole Cardoza?),
Move to audiobooks (my current listen is How To Be Anti-Racist by Ibram X Kendi),
Reserve a space in a social justice focused meditation (A good time to try mine),
Tune into a podcast (Code Switch: Why Now, White People? or Yoga is Dead: White Women Killed Yoga)
Meet up in real life for socially distant and socially conscious conversations - I suggest a quick internet search to find a local group
Whichever forum or media you choose, start talking. Share your questions and thoughts with close, trusted friends in safe spaces. Start unpacking your concerns and unveiling your visions for the future you want to live in. And make plans to take actions towards racial justice and equality. These conversations are the promise of lasting change.
I'm inviting you into more learning and education through yoga and social justice this month. I have a free option for you and a new option! I hope you choose NOW to be the start of this enriching and fulfilling journey into social justice.
(edited for outdated schedule updates)
That's it for my big update. I hope you enjoy the resources and programs I've compiled. I'll be back in your inbox later this month with more Tejal Yoga News! Thank you for your time and I hope to see you in space soon!
Warmly,
Tejal
