​You can take a trip right now and enjoy it. That's what I kept reminding myself on this last trip with my family to celebrate my mom's birthday. Being with family was certainly a dream come true at a time when taking an extravagant trip feels out of place with global suffering and out of step with personal goals.

And yet...

isn't applying "one practice is the right way to act" the exact mindset we'd like to move away from?

Isn't thinking that there is only one right way to be in solidarity with a movement etching the groove of "one right way" even deeper as a default neural pathway?

Dismantling Perfectionism comes with a lot of practice and undoing. Sometimes the practice feels easily applied, like making a simple shift towards drinking more water in a day. And sometimes the challenge comes from an inner struggle and turmoil full of 'what ifs' and 'shoulds'. If peace/bliss is a practice, then there must always be room for trial and error. In place of regret and remorse taking over your headspace at any given time, try prioritizing place and presence.

You can give yourself consent to choose presence rather than absence.

This simple shift can reinforce your autonomy in choosing the moment rather than feeling obligated by it.

For me, this simple shift resulted in replenished and restored energy for staying in the fight.
